Welcome to 'Wicker Country'

Right, Harbour Road in Plockton, where the opening shots of "Summerisle" were filmed. Far right, Tigh-An -Rudha, the house with a great cinematic past, doubled as the Harbour Master's house.  (Issue No. 2  features a three page article on all things 'Wickerish' in and around Plockton).

Far left, the quaint schoolhouse  in Anwoth remains remarkably unchanged, as does the Anwoth Old Kirk, Left,  which is situated directly facing the cottage.  The latter  was the site used for the sequence with the jovial maypole dancers!

Right,  The Cally Estate Offices,  Gatehouse of Fleet, provided the  exterior of the Green Man Inn - the interior  scenes were shot in the Ellangowan Hotel.  Far right. The back of the Cally Estate building is the unmistakable  rear of the Inn, used in the Gently Johnny sequence omitted from the 83 min version of the film. The interior bedrooms of the 'Green Man' were shot at a house in Whithorn.

Far Left.  Castle Kennedy provides the ideal setting for the May Day procession scene. Left, the grassy mound  which supported the artificial stone circle, with the distinct castle ruins in the background.

Right. Whithorn Library, the same one in which Sgt. Howie uncovers something of the true meaning of May Day  - also seen in the shot of the children carrying "death" out of the village. Far Right, Greyfriar's Episcopal Church, in Kirkcudbright, used for interior shots of the church on the 'mainland'.

Far Left, St.Ninian's cave, Isle of Whithorn, where Howie sees Rowan for the first time. The cave chase sequence itself actually took place in a cave at Ballantrae. Left, Sunset over the cliffs at  Burrowhead, taken from the exact spot where the wicker man once stood!
